🛠️ How Our Frames Work

🧱 3D Printed Precision Frame

Each frame is printed using PLA+ a durable plastics. Designed to fit standard U.S. banknotes (6.14" × 2.61") with a protective internal ridge.

🪟 Crystal Clear Mylar Windows

We hand-cut 4, 7, 10 mil Mylar for both sides. This polyester film allows full visibility without exposing the note to air, handling, or dust.

📎 Collector-Grade Mounting Tape

Mylar is attached using archival-grade double sided tape—never touching the note. This acid-free adhesive is trusted for preservation work.

🔩 Screw-Down Assembly

Frames are secured with black-plated thread-rolling screws. No glue, clips, or magnets. The note remains safe and the frame can be reopened as needed.

⚠️ Why Cheap Materials Harm Notes

🚫 Acrylic & Cheap Plastic

Cheap acrylic often off-gasses VOCs and builds static. Experts like the Canadian Conservation Institute and The Conservation Center warn against using these materials near paper artifacts.

🚫 Magnets or Metal Closures

Magnets can compress, mark, or discolor notes over time. The AIC Conservation Wiki and Art Gallery of Ontario advise using barriers to prevent direct magnet contact.

✅ Safe Alternatives

We use Mylar and acid-free tape for protection, combined with PLA+ frames and screw-sealed designs for durability. These materials are designed for collector-grade displays and protection.
